God’s word is vitally important as it is given by God to man. Paul wrote, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim.

3:16, 17). Mankind is not supposed to tamper with God’s word, “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you” (Deut. 4:2); “Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar” (Prov. 30:6); “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Rev. 22:18, 19). All the above scriptures should be reason enough to see God wants His word followed and not man’s. Every person needs to take the time to study the Bible for themselves. It is by the word of God that man will be judged. Jesus said, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). One day everyone will have to give an account for their lives.

Some might say, “Well I do not know what God wants.”

That excuse will not hold up for God’s word is truth (John 17:17), and that word is readily available for all to know.

Study of God’s word takes time and effort. Millions spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours studying for their degrees and for employment possibilities. Those things are only temporary, spiritual things are eternal. One should be willing to investigate spiritual things, and to spend the time investigating what the Bible says. Many fail to believe in spiritual things. There are many reasons for this. Some have been influenced by the tainted word of God (this is when man has added to and taken away from the scriptures). They have become confused or have seen how contradictory a tainted gospel can be. Paul wrote, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ (Gal. 1:6 – 10).

When men put their thoughts and desires into God’s word it causes confusion.

God gives mankind the right directions to live holy lives and to reach heaven.

Those who refuse to follow God will not reach heaven. There are those today who only want to follow their ways, ways that are filled with selfishness and destruction. Jeremiah wrote, “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jer. 10:23). All men need to see that only following God’s direction is the path to heaven.
