Mosquito spraying should be done later

Editor: On 6 p.m. Sept. 21, with folks returning home from work and children playing in the streets, the mosquito fog generator truck drove through our neighborhood in Richmond Hill’s Piercefield Forest Subdivision with fumes spewing out of the truck’s generator.

Wouldn’t it be healthier for the fog to be released later in the evening when things have settled down and fewer people are exposed to the spray?

In honor of the summer solstice (which was last Saturday, June 21st), here is a poem on the subject of the solstice and the invariable passage of time. Now if you’ll excuse me, I shall reapply my sunscreen for the third time today as I begin to water my mother’s plants in the backyard during this lovely record-breaking heat wave. As they say, blood is thicker than water...and Hawaiian Tropic.
