What do you see in the mirror?
The book of James challenges us to not just be hearers of the Word of God but more importantly doers of the Word.
It says in chapter 1, verse 22, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
It then goes on to compare those who don’t do what it says to one who looks into a mirror.
It states it this way in verses 23-24; “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
In other words, God’s Word reveals truth to a person about the life they are living and they have to choose whether or not they will obey that truth or just ignore it.
So, if you look in a mirror, what kind of person are you looking at: a kind of person who desires to do God’s will or one who chooses to reject it?
