Living a life of assurance
pastor corner

Most people live out their lives with very little guarantees. For instance, we have no guarantee that we won’t become ill with the Coronavirus. We have no guarantee that our economic situation will remain stable or get better. We have no guarantee that we will live on this earth another minute. As a country we have no guarantee that we will not be in a major war soon or that our economy won’t collapse or that a natural disaster won’t happen or that, God forbid, we will experience another pandemic following this one.

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I am a realist and I know that things such as those I mentioned have happened in our past and can happen again. In the case of death, all of us will one day come to that place. As a believer in Jesus, I am assured of a couple of things that matter more than anything else in this world. First, our God has promised to be with us no matter what we go through in this life. Secondly, we can have the assurance of where we will spend eternity.

Jesus said in John 10:27-28, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand”. This means that even though we may have to go through some tough times on this earth, not knowing what tomorrow holds, we can know with certainty where we will spend eternity, meaning we know who holds tomorrow.
