Letter to the editor: Letter hit nail on the head with regard to ocean

Roy Hubbard’s opinion piece in the Aug. 31 paper was just what is needed to bring to the attention of the public — and most importantly, our elected officials — the perils of seismic testing and off-shore drilling. When will Buddy Carter and Nathan Deal wake up and start representing the people of Georgia rather than special interest groups? Our oceans, as Mr. Hubbard pointed out, are our life. We must protect them.

In honor of the summer solstice (which was last Saturday, June 21st), here is a poem on the subject of the solstice and the invariable passage of time. Now if you’ll excuse me, I shall reapply my sunscreen for the third time today as I begin to water my mother’s plants in the backyard during this lovely record-breaking heat wave. As they say, blood is thicker than water...and Hawaiian Tropic.
