Letter to the editor: Visiting disaster response team praises local efforts
Letter to the Editor generic

Editor,

As the team leader of the Tennessee Disaster Response Team, I want to thank the wonderful people we met while helping clean up after the recent devastating tornado in your community.

Our team has responded to 104 disasters in the last 15 years and we have never been treated any better by any community we have responded to as we were treated in Bryan County.  Sheriff Mark Crowe, his deputies and staff made sure we had all the supplies we needed and the good people of Pembroke made sure we were fed.

The Pembroke Police Department and Pembroke Fire Department helped provide food to us in the field and the community volunteers who stepped up to help us made our job must easier.

I keep hearing we are living in a divided country but I sure didn't see that in Bryan County, Georgia.

Thank each and every one of you who made our stay in your community a very pleasant one.  We each left a piece of our heart with you.

God bless all of you.

Ken Hall
