Let's schedule less sports on Sunday

Editor, We appreciate the commitment and leadership in providing quality sports programs for the youth of our community. Thank you for the many hours invested in the lives of our children. We are proud to have such organizations in our community and wish to see their continued success.
We have a concern about a growing scheduling conflict for the families of our community. Over the last couple of years, we have noticed an increase in the number of sporting events that are being scheduled on Sundays. Some have been scheduled even on Sunday mornings, presenting a direct conflict for families to attend worship services.
We feel that churches and worship services are extremely valuable in building strong communities, strong families and also young men and women. The values taught in church only help to assist you and your organization in turning out athletes of integrity and character, on the field as well as off the field, or on the court as well as off the court. We feel there is no reason sports and faith should not work to achieve the best in the families we serve.
Therefore, we respectfully request your consideration in scheduling sporting events for Sunday afternoons only. This would relieve the families we serve from having to make the difficult choice of missing church or participating in sporting events. We understand that you are under no obligation to honor such a request. Our only goal is to mitigate the stress and conflict that our families are facing. We only build better families and children as we support each other.
Thank you again for your commitment and leadership. We look forward to serving our community together.
