Recently while doing one of my prayer walks, I happened to notice something shiny in the ditch. After a closer look I saw a cell phone stuck in the dirt. I picked it up and once I was back at my house, I cleaned it off with a rag. I plugged it into a charging cord hoping to be able to find out who it belonged to. Amazingly after a few days I was able to get the wallpaper image to come up. I posted this on our community Facebook page and quickly found the owner.
I found out that this phone had somehow survived after being lost and sitting in the ditch for 4-5 months. When it fell it either hit the pavement or the hard ground. It had been rained on repeatedly and even had a bushhog mow over it a minimum of two times. I don’t know how much of it worked but the owner was amazed that anything worked after this length of time. On the wallpaper it had this picture of a family member and possibly other pictures that were stored. It still had value.
This reminded me that we can go through the hardships of life and somehow through God’s help come out the other end with value. We will experience the storms of life, pain, disappointments, and physical challenges but in the end, we can still have joy, peace and contentment. This is all made possible because of the presence of Jesus in one’s life. Even though we are flawed people God values us enough to provide a way for us to end up in this wonderful place called heaven.
