The labor of love

This time of year people flock to the mountains for one main purpose, to see the fall foliage.

The leaves on the trees change from green to red, yellow, and orange. Of course, the leaves eventually fall off and new ones come on in the spring and the process continues year after year.

The leaves aren’t the only things that change. The scriptures remind us that we can and should be changing. The initial change happens when we commit our lives to following Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold new things have come”. In God’s eyes you are changed positionally, meaning you once were not His child but now you are. Also as His Holy Spirit comes into your life and guides you into all truth, you start changing from the inside out.

There is a journey of change in your character, your thoughts and behavior. A new believer, because of their desire to please God, grows in their faith and becomes more like the God who saved them and lives in and through them. The Apostle Paul put it this way in 2 Corinthians 4:16, “inwardly we are being renewed day by day”.

Have you experienced a change in your position with God; have you accepted forgiveness offered through His Son Jesus Christ? If so, are others seeing that outward change that is a result of the Lord living through your life?
