Editor, I was very pleased to read that Coastal Electric Cooperative recently has been named the best electric co-op in Georgia and also received the 2013 Georgia Electric Membership Corporation “Community Service and Volunteerism Award.”  
Kudos to Whit Hollowell and staff for both awards! They both are well-deserved.
I have lived just north of Midway since 1986 and always have received great service from Coastal EMC. It is rare for us to have a power outage, but when we do, the linemen usually are already dispatched and on the way by the time I call it in. And it never takes long for them to fix the problem, no matter how bad the weather. I truly appreciate that.
“Keeping the lights on” isn’t just a matter of sending the linemen out when a problem occurs. It’s also about the management thinking ahead, making necessary investments in infrastructure and investing in new technology in order to be prepared to “carry the load” into the future.
Thank you to all those who work for Coastal EMC for doing your part to keep things running so smoothly. I enjoy living in eastern Liberty County and am very glad to have Coastal EMC as my power company.
