Impatiently moving forward, without God
pastor corner

We as humans, and yes even followers of Jesus, want to see instant results in everything we do.

We live in a microwave society where we get results at the push of a button so we are challenged when we think we may have to wait on anything.

In life’s journey we want to be constantly on the move with no hiccups or delays. We struggle waiting on God to come through on His promises, so we move ahead on our own. One of the issues is that when we do this there is a cost and we can end up settling for second best. In the scripture we find a good example of someone not willing to wait on God’s direction in a story involving King Saul.

In 1 Samuel 13 Saul decided to not wait on Samuel to offer a sacrifice finding God’s direction but to offer it himself which was a direct act of disobedience.

Samuel said, “You have done a foolish thing...now your kingdom will not endure...”.

One of the areas where believers get impatient is in the area of relationships. We want someone special in our life now.

How many have ended up with the wrong person because of impatience, not waiting on God? Also, we can get impatient in the area of a career or a job.

Instead of finding out where a person can be better used as a believer and where God will receive more honor, people choose for themselves which path they will take. Again, people end up settling for second best.

As believers we need to go when the Lord says “go”, stop when the Lord says “stop”, and wait when the Lord says “wait”.

If we do, our lives will be blessed and we will end up bringing honor to our heavenly Father.
