Having an attitude of gratitude
pastor corner

I know that the Thanksgiving Day is in the rearview mirror, but that is not the only time of year to give thanks. The Christmas season is fast approaching and there are plenty of things surrounding this time of year to be thankful for.

The vast majority of people that I know have more than we deserve. Personally, in this country most people don’t have a problem obtaining the basics necessities of life: food, water, shelter and clothing.

No one who is healthy has an excuse that they can’t find work, for there are more jobs available than people can fill.

Most will be able to buy some Christmas gifts for their loved ones, and as pertaining to children, there are so many ministries and programs to assist. To put things in perspective, my dad who was raised as a child from 19161934, told me that the only time they received anything for Christmas was when they received an apple, an orange, and a stick of candy.

The truth of the matter is that what we should be thankful for the most has nothing to do with material possessions, but the true meaning of Christmas. As Christians we are thankful that God sent His Son into this sinful world as a babe in a manger so that He would be the Savior of the world, and not just a Savior but a personal Savior.

The good news is that Jesus came as a Savior for anyone who will confess that they are a sinner and in need of Him
