Hats off to rec coach Tyler Gunderson

Editor, I saw small-town family values and teamwork by rec coach Tyler Gunderson and the Richmond Hill Wildcats basketball team that made them come to life in Richmond Hill. This team won the league for the season.
I am the grandmother of Grayson Padgett, who is one of the young men lucky enough to be put on the team with coach Gunderson. It has been a long time since I have witnessed what this coach, this team and the family and supporters of this team had during the season of playing basketball. In these days and times, it's hard to find a coach that cares about the kids as individuals instead of just winning the game.
But with this coach, winning was last and these boys were first in his eyes. He put them together as a team, each one with a very important part but not one more important than the other. These young men showed respect and love for each other and their coach. During this short basketball season, fun was had, friendships were made and values and respect were learned that will be with these boys for a lifetime.
So thank you to coach Gunderson for giving your time and teaching these young men how to win and lose with respect.
To the South Bryan County Recreation Department, thank you for giving our young people the opportunities to participate in these sports and for finding a coach like Tyler Gunderson to lead.
