God’s protective hand, part 2
pastor corner

Last week in my article I talked about a story illustrating the protecting hand of God and used a scripture from Psalms. Well, I have another scripture and another story. Psalms 91:1-4 says: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

Several years ago I was working at a machine shop where working Saturday mornings was optional.

It was also the time of year where, what is known as, moral mushroom season was getting ready to start.

They usually sprout up after a warm rain and then sunshine of which had just happened. On my way to work this particular Saturday morning I had planned to stop by this river and see if any mushrooms were there and then go on to work later. As I approached where I would have to pull off I noticed a pickup truck parked there. I had to make a decision whether to stop or not. I figured the person was parked there because they were either fishing or they were hunting mushrooms. If the latter was true then they beat me to the spot. I sat there for a few moments and then decided to go onto work. Later I found out that a woman had been strangled and 3 children were thrown into the cold water and drowned.

A man named Stephen Judy was later arrested, convicted and given the death penalty. Most likely if I had entered the woods by the river, I would have come in contact with a man who have most likely would not let me walk out alive.

Each and every day we need to thank God for His protective hand.
