Find certainty in unsure days
pastor corner

I think you would agree that we live in extremely uncertain days.

There is the pandemic the world is experiencing, with no end in sight and reports that there may be another one on the horizon. There is social unrest spreading across our country, leading to mass division.

There are elections coming up, with the results making us better or worse, according to whom you are listening to. For us on the coast there are predictions of a busy hurricane season.

We can’t be assured of our health, our financial situation, our freedom or our relationships.

There is a silver lining here, and that is the fact that we do have certainties in the midst of an uncertain world. One thing we can be assured of is the fact that the love of God for followers of Jesus will never change.

Romans 8:38-39 puts it this way: “For I am sure (certain) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Another thing that is certain is that we can know that we are saved and that heaven awaits those of us who believe. 1 John 5:13 remind us that “you may know that you have eternal life.”

There is great news for those who only live lives of uncertainty – things can change for you. You can experience today the love of God and you can have the assurance today that you have eternal life.

All you have to do is surrender your life to God’s control by accepting the forgiveness offered through his Son, Jesus Christ.
