Election respect and gratitude

It’s only taken the better part of an entire year, but the 2010 election season has finally come to a close. And while all but one seat on two local boards that were up for grabs was uncontested, elections here in Bryan County were definitely interesting, if not exciting, with a three-way race for District 4 commissioner that ended Tuesday with the runoff.
Now Jimmy Henderson, Carter Infinger and Wade Price take over for those who will bid the board of commissioners adieu in January. Public service is not always an easy job and it’s often thankless, but we wish the incoming commissioners good luck and wisdom in the years ahead.
While one race has gotten the majority of our attention in the past few months, we offer the same hope for good fortune and wise judgment to the new and returning members of the board of education, Paine Bacon, David Shwartz, Joe Pecenka and Eddie Warren, respectively.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention current members of the county board – Rick Gardner, Blondean Newman and Toby Roberts – and school board – Judy Crosby and Mary Warnell – who will be leaving office after the new year. Their willingness to serve has been a benefit to our community. It is worth our respect and deserves our gratitude.
