Don’t forget words have power
pastor corner

The Bible gives us a clear picture of the power of words in Proverbs 18:21 where the writer instructs us by saying, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” In other words, the words we speak to others will either build them up or tear them down.

There are those around us who need words of encouragement. Some have low self-esteem stemming from as far back as childhood, where abusive words were spoken to them from parents.

Some have wounds from unkind words spoken to them from an abusive relationship.

Positive words can help bring about healing. Also, positive words can build self-esteem and prevent wounds from developing. Words can destroy a person’s character – through bullying words can cause others to not want to live. As said earlier, they can affect how others feel about themselves.

The most important way to use words is to tell others about Jesus, who can truly give life. If others will listen to these words they can experience the best life here on earth as well as the best life throughout eternity.
