Do you have a dream?

In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr gave a speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial entitled “I have a dream”. It was a call to end racism and injustice in America.

I do believe there have been great gains in the last 60 years, but racism and injustice are two of the many issues we must keep addressing and working together to improve.

I was born just a few years before this speech and have personally witnessed an ever-increasing change for the better.  I know there are those in the public eye who always look at the negatives and would want us to believe that we all hate each other.

I travel a lot and everywhere I go I witness kindness and respect being shown between people of every color. There are friendships being made that would not have been made several years ago.

We all need to have dreams for our future and the future of this country we call America. We need to learn to love one another in spite of our differences and show it through our actions. We need to dream of a day when a true outpouring of God’s Spirit will pour upon this country changing hearts and minds. We need to dream of a day when Sunday mornings no longer look like the segregation of the 1960’s. We shouldn’t have to wait until we get to heaven to see people from all races and nationalities come together in unity.

It starts with one heart change at a time. Do you have a dream, and will you be an instrument in God’s hands to help make it happen?
