Divine healing
pastor corner

Dr. Lawrence Butler, The Bridge Church, Pembroke

In this third article of our series on Divine Healing we finally get to hear from someone who experienced a great miracle. The following is a testimony from a minister named Jeff Long, a dear friend of mine, and is shared with his permission. I trust it will encourage your faith in God.

In July of 2021 he was hospitalized due to kidney failure. A fast-growing tumor was discovered that completely filled his bladder. For the next six months he was hospitalized 7 times and had 3 surgical procedures. Then his bladder and prostate gland were removed. Stage 4 kidney failure meant there could be no chemotherapy. Severe pain in the abdomen revealed that the cancer had metastasized into his abdomen and lungs. March of 2023 came with the diagnosis that there was nothing else the medical profession could do.

Jeff was sent home to die. He was unable to sit or walk from January to June of 2023.

During this overwhelming period Jeff heard a message delivered by an anointed preacher.

The message so encouraged him in the depths of his depression that I want to share it with you.

“For there is hope of a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, And the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs like a plant” (Job 14:7-9). The scent of water in Jeff ’s heart was hope in God, hope for living, even though he was still expecting to die. Not long after an opportunity opened for a brand new treatment plan and my friend was the first patient to have the chance to participate following the required clinical trials. The scent of God’s help and deliverance led to a blossoming of hope.

I shared with you earlier that God doesn’t always heal the same way. Sometimes it is instantaneously, other times it takes a while and is a process.

Jeff recovered and has been back at work. He has resumed preaching and traveling the across southern states giving his testimony and blessing many with his words of encouragement. I urge you to seek hope, to find a closer walk with God in spite of your smothering depression. Let Him walk with you through your dark and lonely places of life.
