Letter to editor

Editor, Contrary to popular opinion, I still believe public service is an honorable profession.  Every family, wage earner and small business in America can do better — if only we have the right people and policies in Washington, D.C.
Nearly 20 years ago, Elizabeth and I met a young couple on the campaign trail named John and Heather McCallum.  Their support was instrumental throughout my presidential campaign, and we have been friends ever since.
Though much has changed since then, each of our families remains committed to conservative values, and I am pleased that John McCallum is a Republican candidate for the United States Congress.
John McCallum is committed to restoring freedom and opportunity in America, and replacing government reliance with individual responsibility.  Having served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, he will stand up for our military and veterans and fight tirelessly to protect the values that have made America great: God, family, honor, duty and love of country.
Looking back on my career in public service, I am reminded of the people, all along the way, who supported me.  Now I am proud to offer my support to John McCallum, so the nation we love can once again be strong and prosperous.
I rarely endorse primary election candidates.  But as a friend and mentor, I am confident that John McCallum will be a principled, effective representative for the people of Georgia’s 1st District, and I humbly ask you to support his candidacy.
