Being prepared

We are heading very quickly towards the peak of hurricane season. Every year there is the question in most people’s minds who live near the coast: will we be directly affected by a hurricane this year? Local weather experts generally agree that it is not a matter of if but when as to a major hurricane affecting our area. In other words, historical cycles would indicate that sometime in the future we will see a hurricane come on our shores.

One of the most important things that a person can do in regard to this is to be prepared. A person needs to have a plan in place for yourself, your family and your pets. You need to have in mind a place to go, and you need to have important papers in a place where you can put them in your vehicle as you prepare to leave on short notice. You need to decide what you must take along and what can be left behind. There are a few other things to do but I think you get the picture; preparations need to be made.

There is something that the Bible speaks about that is coming in the future which will affect all humanity. The Bible says that there will be a second coming of Christ. It’s not a matter of if but when.

Also, for everyone death is a reality unless a person is alive at the second coming. Either way, having to stand before the Judge (God) is inevitable.

The most important thing a person can do is to be prepared. How does a person prepare to meet God? The cripture again is very clear with an answer to this question; we must be in a right relationship with God. How can this happen? Jesus Himself made that very clear in John 14:6 where He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The big question today is simply this, are you prepared?
