Are you hungering for the Lord?

Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled.”

It could easily have said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for more of Jesus,” since that’s where any righteousness comes from. There is no way we can become more righteous based on our own self effort.

When Jesus comes into our lives by way of his Spirit, it’s then that we can change and start having that desire to do what is the right things to do.

So to hunger and thirst for righteousness means that we desire more of Jesus’s presence in our life, more of his power working through us and more of a willingness to surrender everything to his will.

I am presently writing this from Costa Rica, where I had the privilege of speaking twice this past Sunday. It is refreshing to witness so many youth and young families hungering and thirsting for more of the Lord.

I want to be in a place in my life where my greatest desire is to be more like Jesus and to fulfill his will through me.

My prayer is that you join me in this pursuit.
