Edith M. Sawyer

Richmond Hill

Edith Martin Sawyer, 77, of Richmond Hill, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 25, at Hospice Savannah.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Charles Carleton Martin and the late Edith May Willis Martin. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church. She graduated from Haverhill High School and attended Armstrong Atlantic University. She retired from the U. S. Corps of Engineers in 1992 as an accounting supervisor. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of the NARFE, the Koinonia Club, Senior Friendship Days, and was a volunteer for Hospice Savannah.

Surviving are two sons, Steven M. Sawyer and his fiancée, Pam Foulds, and David M. Sawyer, all of Richmond Hill; three grandchildren, April Sawyer, Brandi Sawyer and Richard Sawyer, and two great-grandchildren, Mia Sawyer and Zackary Sawyer.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in White Bluff United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Interment was private.

The family received friends at the church after her service.

Anita Marie Smith

Port Wentworth

Anita Marie Smith, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Westview Nursing Home.

Mrs. Smith was a resident of Port Wentworth for over 55 years, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Smith and Nathan Earl Wolfe of Pembroke; six brothers, Bill Lewis of Savannah, Lindy Lewis of Savannah, Dicky Lewis of Savannah, Ray Lewis of Savannah, Ken Lewis of Savannah, and Eddie Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Peggy Barbee of Savannah; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Nathan Earl and Carlene Wolfe II of Pembroke; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Cindy and Bill Rizzetta, of Tampa Bay, Fla.; and two great grandsons, Bryan and Bradley Rizzetta, of Tampa Bay, Fla.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday, Dec. 3, at 11:00 A.M. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. A private burial followed.

Flanders Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
