Hearse in wreck 1
Officials sort out a wreck on I-95 in Richmond Hill on Saturday, March 12, 2022 in which a hearse was among the five vehicles involved when a woman driving another vehicle reportedly spun out and caused the accident. She was later charged DUI, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

A woman is charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly caused a 5-vehicle accident Saturday morning at Exit 87 on I-95 in Richmond Hill.

Her name was not immediately available.

The wreck turned the interchange into a parking lot as law enforcement officers tried to sort out what happened.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Zach Montano said the pileup was caused by the DUI driver, who told officers she spun out on the interstate then continued to Exit 90 where she got off I-95 and called authorities.

One of the vehicles involved in the accident was a hearse carrying the remains of a person. One person suffered minor injuries and had to be extracted from a vehicle and taken to Memorial in Savannah.

The accident also damaged the casket being carried by the hearse. It was later transferred to another hearse.
