Woman blacks out, drives through cemetery

A Midway woman blacked out while driving her Jeep Cherokee southbound on Hwy. 17 Friday evening, ran over the median, went head-on into the northbound lane, crashed into and drove all the way through Daniel Baptist Cemetery, before finally resting the vehicle upon hitting some trees.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chad Riner said the blackout was a result of the 65-year-old woman’s diabetes. Amazingly, only minor injuries were reported. Riner attributes much of that to the fact that the woman was wearing her seatbelt.

Daniel Baptist Church Pastor Alfred Banks said the fence was busted and several headstones were damaged, "but none of that matters because that can be fixed or replaced. The important thing is that she is doing OK."
