Willis named RHMS teacher of the year

Riann Willis was chosen by her peers as Richmond Hill Middle School’s 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Willis came to came to Richmond Hill Middle School as a student teacher in 2001. She continues to teach reading and English Arts in the 8th grade and is a sponsor for the Junior Beta Club. During the ceremony, Mrs. Willis was overcome by emotion and expressed her love for teaching and Richmond Hill Middle School. Mrs. Willis was congratulated by the RHMS faculty and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton McLeod, who surprised her by attending the ceremony. Also in attendance was her husband, Christopher Willis, a teacher and coach at RHMS. Mrs. Willis’ colleagues described her as a dedicated teacher and devoted to her students, while also noting her knowledge of subject area content, harmonious classroom environment, and expectations for success are just a few of the reasons that make her the right choice for RHMS Teacher of the Year. GeorgiaForward has announced that the 2025 Youth Placemaking Grant has been presented to the City of Pembroke Mayor’s Youth Council. The $500 grant, awarded to the city, will support a youth-led public placemaking project designed to foster creativity, community connection, and civic pride among young residents.
