The Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission will hold a community planning meeting for Walthourville at the Liberty College & Career Academy from 6-7 p.m. Monday.
The purpose is to receive public input on future decisions about land use, zoning and transportation in Walthourville and its subareas. The information will be used to formulate the 2040 Liberty County Comprehensive Plan.
The commission has held community meetings since last year for each major community in Liberty County. March and April will be dedicated to updating Walthourville’s land-use map. May and June will focus on Allenhurst.
Planner Melissa Jones said the comprehensive plan is guide that will be used by city and county elected leaders to make decisions on proposed land-use developments, transportation and infrastructure.
She said the information provided by Walthourville residents will be used to update current land-use maps with how land is currently being used. The information will also be used to note preferences for future development, she said.
This is a public meeting. The Liberty College & Career Academy is at 245 Dorsey Road, just off Airport Road, in Hinesville. For more information, call Jones at 408-2038.
