Neighborhood Improvement Association is seeking volunteers to prepare federal and state income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
VITA is a federally sponsored community-based program that offers free, high quality tax preparation services to low to moderate income taxpayers, seniors, persons with disabilities, taxpayers with limited English-speaking proficiency and those living in rural counties.
VITA volunteers help hard working families maximize their tax refunds by preparing free tax returns and making sure taxpayers receive their eligible tax credits. Volunteers help taxpayers save millions and bring millions back into the local economy. In 2025, LOCAL VITA helped taxpayers receive over $3.7 million in refunds and saved approximately $1 million in tax preparation fees.
No experience needed as volunteers receive FREE training to become IRS certified. Volunteers have options of flexible hours at sites in Richmond Hill, Pembroke, Hinesville, Rincon, and Savannah. Volunteers are needed for the following positions: Tax Manager, Tax Preparers and Intake Clerks.
First training session will begin Tuesday, December 2nd and the second session will begin Tuesday, Jan 6th: virtual or in-class (you choose).
