Volunteers needed for tax preparation in Bryan County
taxes-5.jpg

Neighborhood Improvement Association is seeking volunteers to prepare federal and state income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

No experience needed as volunteers receive FREE training to become IRS certified.

Volunteers have options of flexible hours at sites in Richmond Hill or Pembroke.

Volunteers are needed as tax preparers and front desk/intake positions.  Virtual training classes will start on January 4.

VITA is a federally-sponsored community-based program that offers free, high quality tax preparation services to low to moderate income taxpayers, the elderly, people with disabilities, taxpayers with limited English speaking proficiency and those living in rural counties.

VITA volunteers help hard working families maximize their tax refunds by preparing free tax returns and obtaining several credits, which increase their refunds. Volunteers help taxpayers save millions and bring millions back into the local economy.  In 2021, LOCAL VITA helped taxpayers receive $5.46 million in refunds and save approximately $1.51 million in tax preparation fees.
