The 3rd Infantry Division’s 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team will travel to and from the Fort Stewart training area throughout October, resulting in increased training activity. During this period, travelers can expect more tactical vehicle traffic on state Highways 144 and 119, along with heightened activity and noise around Fort Stewart.
Both state roads run through active training areas on the Fort Stewart installation, home of the 3rd Infantry Division. Motorists are urged to exercise caution while traveling down these highways due to the ongoing military training in the area.
The Fort Stewart Directorate of Emergency Services will place electronic signs on Highways 144 and 119 to promote safety. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution in these areas.
Drivers who see amber flashing lights or soldiers wearing reflective vests are urged to reduce speed and exercise additional caution as this indicates soldier presence in or near the roadway.
