Traffic shift on Fort McAllister Road set for Monday
road work-barrels

The newly constructed portion of the Fort McAllister intersection is scheduled to be aligned with Highway 144 in what will be the final configuration of the intersection.

APAC-Atlantic, Inc. plans to shift traffic on Fort McAllister Road starting Monday, Sept. 28 to accommodate the work. No time was given for the shift, but it's expected to begin in the morning.

In addition, a left turn arrow and a “stop sign ahead” sign will be used to keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely. A new message board has been installed to advise motorists of the new traffic pattern and the date on which it starts.

Access to drives on the north side of the project will be maintained by channelizing traffic to the new pattern, levelling in existing Fort McAllister Road lanes as needed, and adjusting stop signs and stop bars accordingly.

Temporary traffic striping tape will be used during the shift at the intersection and between lanes of travel to channelize traffic until temporary striping can be installed. Sock drains have been installed to maintain drainage.

Please note the above operations are subject to change due to circumstances beyond the contractor’s control. Motorists are encouraged to obey the speed limit and exercise additional caution when driving in the area.
