Third annual Juneteenth celebration set for June 17

The Bryan County NAACP and the city of Richmond Hill are partnering for the third annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at J.F. Gregory Park.

The theme is “A Celebration of Community, Culture and Unity.”

The free event will include live performances from Dolette McDonald, Huxie Scott, Basik Lee, Laiken Love, the Bryan County NAACP choir and more, organizers say.

There will be speakers, food, fellowship, arts and crafts vendors and more.

Newly-appointed Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority Chairman Trip Addison kicked off the board’s first-ever meeting by telling those who attended he was “dedicated to engaging every voice in this process,” as the board moves forward on a potential general aviation airport on Rayonier-owned property off Highway 17 near Belfast Keller Road.
