Bryan County food banks are making sure that no one goes hungry not only this Thanksgiving, but also year-round.

Bryan County Family Connection is having a Thanksgiving turkey and meal box giveaway for families in need.

The turkey and meal boxes will be available at the Plentiful Pantry Food Bank on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while supplies last. The pantry is located inside the Bryan County Family Connection office at 40 South Industrial Blvd in Pembroke.

Along with a turkey, the meal boxes include stuffing, macaroni and cheese, pasta, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, rice, and canned fruit. Some of the items in the meal boxes are from a recent food drive that was organized by the Bryan County Middle School Student Council.

In South Bryan, Food for the Soul Soup Kitchen will be partnering with the Way Station Food Pantry to provide families in need with a turkey and other items to prepare a Thanksgiving meal.

“Food for the Soul Soup Kitchen is a collaborative ministry of several churches in South Bryan County and is housed at the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church. This ministry provides a meal every Thursday to families needing help in meeting basic needs,” said Donna Hoke, of Richmond Hill United Methodist Church.

The ministry is currently accepting the following donations for Thanksgiving meals: 5-10 lb. turkeys, boxes of stuffing mix, cans of turkey gravy, 15 oz. cans of green beans, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, and monetary donations to help purchase

items. Donations can be dropped off at the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. - noon. on Fridays.

This week, the office will be closed on Thursday and Friday. For large donations, please call the church office at (912) 756-2190 before arriving.
