Summer road work set for area highways, interstates

Georgia Department of Transportation continues to improve highway infrastructure throughout Southeast Georgia. As a result, work on I-95 in Bryan and Liberty counties will continue this weekend through Friday.

·         From 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday there will be nightly double lane closures on I-95 between mileposts 66-86 for paving operations.

All work subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.

Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, including traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays. Callers can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In southeast Georgia, you can also request CHAMP assistance by calling 511.
