The National Weather Service is reporting a good chance that severe storms could come through the area this morning.

And after a break this afternoon, the weather will worsen again tonight, into Tuesday.

Mike Hodges with the Liberty County EMA office reports he and his staff are watching the storms as they move in from north Florida, contemplating whether actions are needed.

Here's the forecast:

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before noon. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Southeast wind between 10 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Low around 65. South wind between 11 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. 

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind between 9 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. 

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. West wind between 8 and 14 mph.
