DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Two DeKalb County schools were on lockdown after a shooting in the neighborhood that left one man dead.

DeKalb County police officer Mekka Parish says the schools went on lockdown after a man was shot in a truck across the street from the elementary school about 8 a.m. Friday. She says police are looking for two people who were seen running from the scene.

She says the man who was shot was taken to a hospital where he later died. Authorities were waiting notification of kin to give his identification.

Dale Davis says the lockdowns at Briarlake Elementary School and Lakeside High School were precautionary, and there was no reason to immediately lift them during the school day because it was raining and the students weren't going outside anyway.
