ATLANTA — Supporters of a Georgia death row inmate who is set to be executed for the killing of an off-duty Savannah police officer plan to gather in downtown Atlanta for a march.

Amnesty International and the NAACP are organizing the rally for Troy Davis on Friday from Woodruff Park to Ebenezer Baptist Church. Davis is set to be put to death on Wednesday for the 1989 killing of Officer Mark MacPhail.

The groups claim Georgia is set to put an innocent man to death, citing eyewitnesses who claim another man killed MacPhail. Prosecutors say there's no doubt they charged the right person with the crime, and courts have repeatedly upheld his conviction.

The Rev. Al Sharpton and others are set to speak at the event
