WEST HOLLYWOOD McDonalds is great for a lot of things: $1 Cokes, breakfast and the Big Mac. But theres one thing the fast-food chain shouldnt be associated with a marriage proposal.

Thats the lesson one California man learned pretty quickly when he snuck an engagement ring in a Crispy Chicken Deluxe and tried to propose to his girlfriend of two years in the drive-thru line. He posted the painful video on YouTube as a warning to other suitors who may have grand schemes involving fast food.

Michael Joseph, 30, enlisted the help of his girlfriends father and the entire drive-thru staff at a McDonalds in West Hollywood with the hopes of driving away a fianc. In the video description on YouTube, he related how he came up with the plan and why he chose such an unorthodox venue.

Ive never been good at planning in advance, which is why we would up ending our first date at this exact McDonalds, Joseph wrote. She joked for months about how 10 years down the road I would probably propose to her in a chicken nugget box, so I thought she would love when I surprised her this way.

Not surprisingly, she didnt love it.

The video shows her shock as she opens the chicken sandwich to find the ring. At first, she laughs.

Youre not serious, she gasps. You cant do this. You cant ask me to marry you in a chicken sandwich.

Her laughter quickly turns to tears, as Josephs elation begins to plummet into levels of awkwardness that no one should have to experience.

Say something, he says as he slips the ring on her finger. I thought it was a surprise.

She continues to protest in utter disbelief.

I cant marry you, she says definitively. This isnt a joke. You asked me on a bun?

Can you really blame her?

It was a doofus move by me but it wasnt a tragedy, Joseph told Australias 9News. I couldnt care less if people call me dumb or not. I think the people who know me understand. Its humiliating a little, I guess, but I dont pay attention to stuff like that.

Joseph said the couple plans to wait a little longer until its time to get engaged.
