Senior Zachary Lanier has been named the 2018-19 Georgia STAR student for Bryan County High School.
To be eligible for this honor, the student must have the highest SAT score as well as be in the top 10 percent of the graduating class.
Lanier chose Alison Holcombe as his STAR teacher. Holcombe is now the Assistant Principal at Bryan County Elementary School. She was Zachary's second grade teacher.
He said Holcombe is the teacher that stood out as far as inspiring him to do his best so he could be anything he wanted to be.
Lanier has been accepted into Mercer University and plans to pursue a degree in the pre-medical program to prepare for medical school.
