Spirit of Peace Lutheran Church is reconvening for safe, socially distanced, in-person worship and continuing their live online services via Zoom, which they invite the community to join. During Advent, they will have one additional outdoor service on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. that will include a light meal and Christmas carols.
The church hosted a few test runs of in-person worship while still including their online participants via Zoom, which they are planning to continue for those who prefer to worship from home. During the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, the church had to adjust and host their usual 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship services live via Zoom, and it turned out to be a very successful method to keep congregants connected during a time of social isolation.
The congregation enjoys being together, so they decided to do a live sermon rather than a pre-recorded segment to be shown later.
For Christmas Eve, Spirit of Peace will host in-person worship at 7 p.m. with a simultaneous live Zoom service. The community is welcome to attend all services, but those interested in joining in-person worship services should contact the Church Administrator at tara@spiritofpeacelutheran.org to reserve a space and learn about the required safety protocols.
“We are striving to create the best worship experience for our parishioners, so after success with our test runs, we are excited to start back with in-person worship along with our usual Zoom services. We aim to make our worship time feel bonded, like we are one community, and we invite people – Lutheran or not – to join us in praise,” Pastor Devin Strong said. “Our church relishes the Christmas spirit, so our advent service full of joy and song is not to be missed!”
