Editor's note: The injured solider is with the South Carolina National Guard.  It was earlier reported he was with 188th Infantry Brigade.

A wreck shut down a portion of Hwy. 144 Thursday morning and claimed one life according to Fort Stewart military police. It happened on post near mile marker 18 heading towards Fort Stewart. The driver of one vehicle was found dead on the scene and the driver of the second vehicle was flown to Memorial University Medical Center. Both victims are soldiers. The soldier who was killed was with the 3rd ID and the soldier taken to the hospital is with the South Carolina National Guard. He was airlifted to Memorial.
