The city of Richmond Hill submitted a minor wastewater discharge report to the EPD after learning of the incident on Sunday.

City officials said a cracked sewer force main in the vicinity of 2503 River Oaks Drive resulted in a discharge of less than 3,000 gallons.

The drainage inlet is contiguous to a retention pond that feeds to the Ogeechee River.

A broken section of pipe was replaced, according to the city and 2,000 gallons of discharged water was recovered from the storm drain box and returned to the collection system for treatment. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide.
