A service will be held today in Pembroke for Colby Minis, the 17-year-old Ellabell teen who died Dec. 26 as a result of injuries he suffered during a one-car accident in which three other boys were also injured.

Minis was one of four teens in a car that rolled over Dec. 23 on Wilma Edwards Road. Deputies were dispatched to the scene of the accident around 1:30 p.m. and found the four boys trapped in the vehicle, according to the Bryan County Sheriff ’s Office.

The teens were removed from the vehicle by Bryan County Fire and Emergency Services first responders. All were injured in the crash, according to the BCSO. Two teens were flown by helicopter to Memorial in Savannah while two were transported by ambulance, BCSO said in a press release. Investigation of the accident was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol.

The names of the other teens involved in the wreck were not released.

A sophomore at Bryan County High School, Minis played defensive line for the Redskins and enjoyed going to the river, riding four-wheelers and listening to music, his obituary said.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Flanders Power Funeral Home, and the service will follow at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be private.

A GoFund me page set up to raise $15,000 to help with funeral expenses has already raised more than $16,000.
