The Republican Party rolled into Richmond Hill on Friday, stumping for votes for U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss.
Two buses carrying Chambliss, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, Congressman Jack Kingston and Georgia Representative Ron Stephens stopped at Harvey’s around 10:30 a.m.
"We’re doing a bus tour all around the state," Chambliss said. "This is our 11th of 12 days, and we’re just tickled to death to be in Bryan County to visit with the folks who have come out today."
Chambliss is facing Democrat Jim Martin, while Kingston is being challenged by Democrat Bill Gillespie. About two dozen people were there to greet the candidates, including veterans.
"We’re here just to let the politicians and the candidates know that the veterans in Georgia need help," said Richmond Hill resident and Vietnam vet Donald Singleton. "We don’t want them to forget about us, and that’s why we’re here today."
