Santa Scramble tees off Friday morning

The Ninth Annual Santa Scramble is this Friday morning. The tournament will be held at the Waterford Landing Golf Club from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is put together each year by the Good Ol’ Boys organization of Richmond Hill with proceeds to go toward the Bryan County Children’s Fund.

Each year, the Good Ol’ Boys raise funds to ensure that no child in Bryan County is without a Christmas. Every dollar raised at the tournament goes toward the purchase of toys, food or clothing for this cause. Last year’s events went to help make Christmas better for 400 kids.

"Last year, the Santa Scramble raised $23,000," said Dick Brockhoff, member of the Good Ol’ Boys. "We hope to top that this year, but it’s not looking good. It’s been a tough year for the cause. With the economy the way it is, we expect to be well behind what we did last year."

Brockhoff encourages everyone to consider all the local kids in need this holiday season and beat the odds by turning out and showing their support at Friday’s tournament. This can be done by becoming a sponsor or a participant.

Eligible children are chosen through referrals from schools, churches and local social service agencies, in conjunction with Bryan County Family Connection.

A Golf Hole Sponsorship is a donation of $100 which gets the sponsor a sign on the course, acknowledgement at the tournament, and in the Bryan County News.

A Bronze Sponsor donates $750 and gets everything a golf hole sponsor receives, plus one complimentary four man team.

A Silver Sponsor donates $1,000 and gets everything a hole sponsor receives, the right to erect a booth and six foot banner near the clubhouse plus one complimentary four man team. The Silver Sponsor may place representatives in their booth to talk with individuals, to give out samples and pass out literature during the tournament.

A Gold Sponsor donates $1,500 and gets everything a hole sponsor receives, the right to erect a tent and ten-foot banner near the clubhouse, plus two complimentary four-man teams. The Gold Sponsor may place representatives in their booth to talk with individuals, to give out samples and pass out literature during the tournament. The Gold Sponsor’s company logo will also be used in the advertisement for the golf tournament.

Any monetary donations from individuals will be appreciated as well.

The Good Ol’ Boys, the Bryan County News and Bryan County Family Connection ask that local businesses and residents join together to support the Bryan County Children’s Fund. This will help make the event a success as in years past and ensure that Bryan County residents have the best Christmas possible.

To donate, please send checks made out to Bryan County Children’s Fund, to Good Ol’ Boys, P.O. Box 49, Richmond Hill, GA. 31324. For more information, call Brockhoff at 727-3387.
