Georgia Department of Transportation continues to improve highway infrastructure throughout Southeast Georgia. As a result, work on construction and maintenance projects will continue throughout the week from Monday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 19. Major projects of interest that will likely impact traffic are listed below.

 

All work subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.

 

Roadway closures are scheduled as follows:

 

Interstate 95

Work could be in Camden, Glynn, McIntosh, Liberty, Bryan and Chatham Counties Nightly intermittent single and/or double lane closures 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.

Numerous projects consist of resurfacing, ramp slab replacement, pavement markers installation and vegetation removal in median

 

Interstate 16

Concrete Pavement Repairs

Nightly Lane Closure 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Intermittently from Mileposts 149.5 to 166

 

Interstate 516

Concrete repairs and grinding operations with ramp closures East and West Bound Lane Closures from MP 0 to MP 6.2 Nightly 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday Weekend closures will be from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday

 

Bryan County

SR 25/US 17 5 miles North of Ford Avenue Weekend Single Lane Closures for Bridge Rehabilitation Work Friday through Monday nights 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through November 30th 

 

Chatham County

County Road 787 (Island Expressway) between Oatland Island Road to Elba Island Road Single Lane closures for Bridge Replacement Project

Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.                                                                              

 

US 80 between Stagecoach Road and Old Osteen Road Lane shift with speed reduction required for Jimmy Deloach Extension Project

 

SR 25 Conn/West Bay Street from I-516 to the Bay Street Viaduct Traffic Shift on Bay Street between West Street and Tuten Street  to replace box culvert continuous through Monday January 21, 2019

 

Ware County

US 1 near Dixie Union

Railroad overpass north of Dixie Union and two bridges south of Dixie Union Single Lane Closures for Bridge Rehabilitation Work Monday through Friday 7 a.m. until  6 p.m.

Decision on potential Parkers’ Kitchen location delayed

Bryan County Commissioners on Tuesday night deferred a decision on whether to rezone some 3.8 acres near the historic Burnt Church Cemetery to allow a Parker’s Kitchen convenience store. The vote to defer the decision for 30 days to look into concerns raised by opponents to the project came after several residents – including parents of children buried in the 195-year-old cemetery – urged commissioners to deny the rezoning.
