The Richmond Hill High School STAR student was announced Tuesday morning by the Richmond Hill Lions Club, the sponsoring organization. Jolie Claudio was selected as the STAR student for both Richmond Hill High School and the Bryan County school system. Claudio selected Sarah Lemmens as her STAR teacher. 

Claudio, who plans to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, selected Lemmens for her influence in developing an interest in electrical engineering which is her intended major. The Lions Club awarded Jolie a $1,000 grant for her college studies.

The STAR program is organized statewide by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, who recognize the student in each high school who scored the highest on one sitting of the SAT.

Claudio and Lemmens, along with Claudio's parents, school and Lions Club representatives will attend the STAR district luncheon on March 15 at Georgia Southern University. The district winner will advance to compete for the state STAR student award.
