Richmond Hill Christmas celebration just around corner

The City of Richmond Hill’s 13th Annual Hometown Christmas Celebration is just around the corner.

- Friday Dec. 5 from 6-9 p.m.

The Seventh Annual Chili Cook-off and Crafts Fair: Booths will be filled with chili chefs and craft vendors. Be there when the cash awards are given to the best tasting chili in town. Live entertainment provided by Arts on the Coast and local musicians. Enjoy a variety of food, a magician, face painting, a balloon artist, a caricature artist, inflatable rides, and lots more fun. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for children of all ages and our local photographer will be onsite to capture the moment.

- Saturday, Dec. 6 beginning at 10 a.m.

The Thirteenth Annual Hometown Christmas Parade: Gather together with the entire family and watch the Christmas parade make its way through the streets of downtown Richmond Hill. This year’s parade theme will be "Home for the Holidays" to highlight the return of local military troops. Local businesses and residents are encouraged to participate or come out and celebrate the holidays. Join the Christmas festivities.

The Fourth Annual Christmas Xtravaganza:

Immediately following Richmond Hill Christmas Parade, the Station Xchange has planned an Xtravaganza that will include a winter wonderland with real snow, Christmas music, local performing artists, a petting zoo, photos with Santa, ornament making stations, a cookie decorating station, complimentary candy canes, and hot cocoa. The event is FREE and open to the public. Refreshment stands will be onsite at the event and the funds raised will be donated to Bryan County Drug-Free Coalition, a group of local parents, students, law enforcement officers, city, county, and school officials, and business people united to create an awareness of and help address the local drug and alcohol problem among young people in Bryan County. Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Christmas on the Ogeechee: Boat lovers will be thrilled by this spectacular lighted boat parade. The boat parade will begin at the Fort McAllister State Park pier and end at the last house on the point. Judges will be located at the Fort McAllister Marina and awards will be presented to the best in show. Attractions will include live music, food, and beverages after the parade. Santa’s Gift Shop: Santa's gift shop is coming to Richmond Hill this Christmas Season. For one day only, the Richmond Hill Dance Theater will host this one of a kind shopping opportunity for children! Youngsters will be able to select gifts for their family members, with many selections available for $1-$5. Members of the dance company will be on hand to assist the children with wrapping and gift tags.
