A failed sewer pump controller at a lift station near Rushing Street caused about 39 gallons of sewage to overflow from a manhole cover in the Rushing Street subdivision around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from the city.

"The affected areas were cleaned to eliminate debris and the area was also treated with lime to neutralize the spill," according to the release.

The release also said that, as required, the city notified the EPD and the Bryan County Health Department.
