The Georgia Department of Community Affairs has announced that the state has added two listings to the National Register of Historic Places; one of which is the City of Richmond Hill’s Community House, located on Ford Avenue.
The two nominations in full:
• Power-Hyde Farm Historic District, Marietta, Cobb County
• Community House, Richmond Hill, Bryan County Built in 1936, the Community House is historically significant for its association with Henry Ford’s investment in and development of the town formerly known as Ways Station.
As of October 16, Georgia has 2,217 listings comprising 90,082 resources in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Community House nomination was sponsored by the City of Richmond Hill, and nomination materials were prepared by Ethos Preservation.
The Historic Preservation Division (HPD) is Georgia’s state historic preservation office (SHPO).
The Historic Preservation Division’s aim is “to promote the preservation and use of historic places for a better Georgia.”
